Porsche Cars North America Sales By Model: February 2018

Porsche’s sales were way up in February this year, buoyed by comparatively strong Panamera and sports car sales. PCNA outsold February 2017 by 20.5% this year, with a huge 4,382 cars sold. This is a huge jump, and brings year to date sales up to 11.6% more than the same period last year (totaling 9,198 cars in January and February).

The exponential jump in Panamera sales can be contributed to the fact that Porsche was just rolling out the new Panamera at this time last year, and sales, distribution, and production are currently running at full force. Porsche sells every single Panamera that they ship to the US, and could probably sell even more if production could meet demand. While Cayenne and Macan sales are slightly down, Porsche’s sedan is selling gangbusters.

The big surprise here is the increase in sports car sales, which are not usually something people purchase in February. A particularly dry season in the Southwest may contribute to some of this increase in demand. February 911 sales are up more than 40% over the same month last year, and 718 Boxster/Cayman sales have jumped more than 37% in the same period. We love to see more Porsche sports cars sold, so this is a good trend.

While Certified Pre-Owned sales are not separated out by model designation, Porsche sold 1,714 CPO units in February, a 20.1% jump year-on-year. As Porsche continues to set sales records, it’s not surprising to see the dealer network increasingly sell used cars as well.
