Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), announced June 2017 sales today of 4,516 vehicles. While this represent a .8% increase over the same period last year, and a 3.2% increase year-to-date, the chart below is of interest when you look at sales by model line.
Sales across all model lines, other than the Macan and Panamera, are down. Deliveries of Porsche’s sports car line-up are down considerably for 911, Boxster and Cayman, nearly 20% down for the 911 and more than 37% for the Boxster/Cayman models (because Porsche groups the 718 models together it’s impossible to determine if the decrease is on both the Boxster and Cayman or just one of them). Macan sales were notably strong in June with 1,871 deliveries, a 53.1% increase over the same period last year. Year-to-date, Macan sales are up 30.9% and stand at 10,638 vehicles. Panamera deliveries registered at 518, a 2.4% increase over last year. Year-to-date, Panamera sales are up 36.5% with 3,001 vehicles sold.
Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales in the U.S. were 1,477. Year-to-date, CPO sales are up 7.2% and stand at 8,964 for the first six months of 2017. That’s equal to 32.5% of the total number of new Porsches sold and this number only represents CPO sales. I wonder how high it would be if you factored in the non CPO Porsches sold at many dealers?

There are many reasons why the Macan is the best selling Porsche. A practical "sports car" that does everything very, very well.
I have put about 4000 miles on my 2017 Macan GTS. I can't get enough of driving it. Drives like a sports car when that mood hits me. (Ok, not as sporty as my Cayman S but still awesome), I can pull my dirt bike or my side by side with it too. I can't imagine a better all around vehicle on the planet. I've heard rumors that Porsche may be (finally) doing the right thing an doing a redesign of the 911 to be mid engine like the Cayman. Dump the back seat and get serious. I'd be fine with a slightly stretched Cayman and a bigger motor too. That's the one I'm waiting for. I just love my Porsche's...
