PCNA is in an incredible place right now. Coming off a first half of 2020 that nobody would wish on their worst enemies, Porsche has managed to bounce back with incredible speed, selling more cars in North America across Q2 of 2021 than it has ever sold in any quarter to date. How many new Porsche sales in the U.S. market does it take to set a record? How about an astonishing 18,958 units! While Q2 of 2020 was an abysmal one, it’s still incredible that Porsche managed to best it year-over-year by 55.5 percent. Year to date, every single product Porsche makes is selling far better than it had across the same period last year.

“The Porsche community of passionate customers is growing, and we are thrilled to welcome them. All of our cars are outperforming expectations, from the iconic 911 to our electric sports car, the Taycan, and our bestselling SUVs,” said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of PCNA. “We have great momentum for this year, thanks to a fresh and exciting product line as well as our commitment with our dealers to delivering superb customer experiences.”

Porsche’s all-electric Taycan is a major gainer for the brand, as it continues to gain in popularity. We have truly loved the Taycan every time we set foot in one, and it’s easy to see why the model continues to sell well. As the less-expensive models continue to roll out, and with the launch of the incredibly practical Taycan Cross Turismo wagon, we only expect that car to continue to grow in popularity. Electric is the future of Porsche, and the Taycan proves that the future is now. Taycan managed to not only outsell the 911, but it outsold both 911 and 718 sports car lines combined!

Porsche is also quite proud of the 718 lineup, as it doubled in sales as compared to last year, largely due to the success of the 4-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder GT4, Spyder, and GTS models. Actually, of all the models in the lineup, Porsche’s 911 saw the smallest gains over last year. The 992 model has been out for a while, and for the most part everyone who wanted one got theirs delivered already. Now we’re just waiting for the new GT models to come out, as the GT3 is just now getting to dealers, the GT3 Touring is still a ways out, and the RS hasn’t even been launched yet. Cayenne, Panamera, and Macan naturally rebounded to above pre-pandemic levels of gangbuster sales.

Porsche CPO sales in the U.S. rose 12 percent in Q2 to 7,477, for a total in the first half of 14,580 vehicles, up 16 percent from a year earlier. Just incredible.
