Pascal Wehrlein, the reigning Formula E World Champion, is set to make his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, driving the Porsche 963 for Porsche Penske Motorsport. Wehrlein has previous experience with the vehicle from test sessions and his involvement in the 24 Hours of Daytona, where he supported the customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports. He will share driving responsibilities with experienced teammates Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy. Nasr, a three-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titleholder, will be competing at Le Mans for the sixth time, while Tandy brings a wealth of experience from twelve prior appearances, including an overall victory with Porsche in 2015.
Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, commented on the driver lineup, stating, “The Porsche driver roster is absolutely top-tier and incredibly deep.” He expressed confidence in Wehrlein’s capabilities based on his performance in testing and at Daytona. Wehrlein acknowledged the challenge of sharing the Porsche 963, noting the differences from his usual experience in Formula E, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at Le Mans.
António Félix da Costa, another driver on the team, will be participating in his seventh Le Mans, having previously won the LMP2 class in 2022. He aims to replicate that success this year. The Porsche entries at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans will include several teams across different classes, showcasing a strong presence in the race. The competition is expected to be significant, with various experienced drivers participating across the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes.
