Updates on Two of Our Porsche Stories from Last Week

Last week we told you about a Riviera Blue Porsche 993 C2S up for sale that could potentially bring a record price. Well, if the final bidder on eBay actually comes through and purchases the car then I think a new record was achieved for the highest price ever paid for a non-celebrity owned, naturally aspirated, production version Porsche 993 (yeah, I know it’s a lot of qualifiers). The winning bid for the 993 topped out at $120,300. We’ve seen plenty of eBay auctions fail due to fraudulent bids or high bidders that just disappear, so it remains to be seen if this deal will go through. There’s already a thread over at Rennlist (that’s gone slightly off topic) suggesting it will never happen.

Update on The Crash at the Porsche Dealership in New Zealand

If you read the story about the truck that crashed into the Porsche dealer in New Zealand last week, then you’re already aware of the basic story. However, shortly after we posted our article we received a comment from a PorschePurist reader in New Zealand. As it turns out, one of our subscribers works at the dealership where the accident occurred and he provided a blow-by-blow first hand account of the accident in the comments. In addition he was kind enough to send over a few pictures that were take shortly after the accident (we posted them below) and I don’t believe were published elsewhere. After reading his story and seeing the new pictures it’s amazing that more people weren’t seriously injured. Read “carkitters” comments yourself on the original post.
