The World Wide Web is vast; some even say its size is infinite. So, in an infinite universe, how does one stand out? It’s difficult to do in the best of circumstance and even harder for a new blog like 993C4S.com. Besides the obvious of good design, interesting, original and quality content, one still needs to market. My blog is doing well, in fact it’s doing better than I ever expected in terms of daily visitors and page views. Let’s face it, I like to write, but I like to think it’s more than just friends and family who are taking an interest in what I have to say.
The Numbers Speak for Themselves
According to Technorati (one of the myriad of social networking sites available to bloggers) there are over 70 million weblogs or blogs currently being tracked, with an additional 120,000 new weblogs being created worldwide each day. Those numbers are staggering. That’s 1.4 blogs created every second (in the time it took me to type this paragraph over 100 new blogs came online). So, beyond the obvious of begging friends and family to subscribe and telling everyone we know about our blog, there is also a need for marketing and promotion.
Enter the Blogger’s Choice Awards.
By now, you may have noticed that little image over on the right side of my blog. As it clearly states, 993C4S.com has been nominated in the category of Best Hobby Blog (Okay, so I nominated my own blog. Let’s not forget the title of this post). What does this mean? Frankly, to you, probably not a whole heck of a lot. However, to me it is an opportunity to promote my blog beyond the reach of its current audience.
I’m not suggesting that The Blogger’s Choice Awards are the on-line equivalent of the Oscars. They are however, a whole lot better than nothing. So, if you read this blog and you enjoy it, please take a moment to vote. Unlike a fantasy bid during a Barrett Jackson auction your vote will count!
