It’s been almost 5 years since we last reviewed a product from Lacie and Porsche Design. Since then their product offerings have expanded in storage, but not so much in design (it’s still the sleekest external drive around). Well this new thumb drive changes everything. Not only is it the smallest USB 3.0 compatible flash drive on the market it’s as fast as its namesake. Boasting speeds up to 95MB/s this little drive will go from 0 to a 450MB MPEG-4 video file in just 4.5 seconds (that’s geek speed for really fast file transfer on a thumb drive).
Working together, Lacie and Porsche design combined speed, design, and technology to create a USB key that is as beautiful as it is functional. The LaCie Porsche Design USB Key is constructed of scratch resistant solid steel, meaning the compact design doesn’t sacrifice strength.
Along with the slim size comes a slim price. In fact, this might just be the most affordable Porsche you’ll ever find. Available in a 16GB version for $30 or a 32GB version for $50.
LaCie first partnered with Porsche Design in 2003 to produce one of the most iconic and enduringly popular external hard drives on the market. Our favorite marque and the leading technology company definitely complement each other. I can’t even tell you how many countless thumb drives I have from Porsche filled with PR material, etc. Here’s hoping the next one we get is one of these…
