Ferro Watches has launched a new watch, known simply as the Ferro Distinct 2, with single hand motion and a face inspired by the gauge faces of classic sports cars like the Porsche 911 series. Now in their third Kickstarter venture, Ferro Watches is bringing new features to their elegant watch line, including a perforated leather strap to be made available when they cross the $55,000 fundraising goal.
A very modern design, this watch’s simple lugged aesthetic is complimented by a single handed motion and minimalist controls. Three different movements are offered, an automatic Swiss ETA 2824-2, a Miyota 8215 Automatic and Swiss Ronda 715 Quartz with distinct styling and features for each. All three movements have been converted for single-hand operation.
Outwardly the three watches are differentiated by their glass faces; double domed sapphire with an anti-reflective coating on the automatic models and flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the Quartz watches. Compact date windows are placed at the 4 o’clock position. Faces are available in both black and white.
Automatic models are further differentiated with a glass window on the rear of the case, revealing the movement. Both models are water resistant to 100m and a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
Tanned Italian leather is used for the straps, available in both black or brown with black, white or red stitching. This Kickstarter has already surpassed its initial funding goal of $6,192 by a substantial margin, and is well on its way to the $55,000 threshold for Ferro to offer a perforated leather strap to their backers. As constructed these versatile watches appear perfect for day to day wearing, or would pair well with finer attire.
A variety of packages are available for backers, and those who pledge beyond $603USD will receive a free pair of driving gloves along with their Automatic ETA movement watch. At the $540USD level backers will receive two Ferro Automatic Japan Movement watches in the colors of their choice, and at the $424USD level backers will receive one Ferro Automatic and one Ferro Quartz movement watch in the color of their choice. A wide variety of packages including single Automatic and Quartz watches are also available at lower price points. More information is available at Ferro’s Kickstarter page. (Note: Ferro is based in Canada, and Kickstarter pledge prices reflect this)
Ferro’s established relationship with a watch factory ensures a swift turnaround for their new product, and deliveries are anticipated to begin in September of 2016.
