Buying a brand new Porsche 991 Carrera is a great way to quickly spruce up your garage, but doesn’t do much for the inside of your house. You pick yourself up out of those luscious Porsche sport seats after a nice afternoon drive, and you go inside only to sit on a normal, boring sofa. The overstuffed cushions, lame throw pillows, and a blanket thrown over the back just don’t say “cool”, no matter how much your significant other likes them.
Surely, as a Porsche enthusiast, you’d much rather have the beautiful rear haunches of a 991 gracing your lounge. That is exactly what design firm “Luc and Andre” are hoping you’ll think, as they have just trotted out their brand new line of 9Eleven furniture, all inspired by Porsche design aesthetics. The line includes a table, a coffee table, a conference table, an office chair, and a desk chair, in addition to this lovely sofa.
The sofa features a Porsche interior inspired seating surface, elongating the proportions to fit to a loveseat configuration. The exterior surfaces of the sofa are reminiscent of the Carrera’s design cues, including the deep front bumper vents on the lower fascia of the front, and the rear of the piece is nearly a replica of the 991’s well-known rear. In this instance, however, the “engine grille” tips up to display some wine bottle storage, and the “spoiler” slides out to form a small shelf, presumably for mixing drinks. Drinking and Porsches usually don’t mix, but in this instance, they’re like a match made in heaven.
The pictured piece was supposedly listed at $40,000, but the specifications are not mentioned. According to their site, Luc & Andre will custom build the sofa to your specifications, using either aluminum, composite, or carbon fiber for the exterior shell, and they will also allow you to spec leather, alcantara, or velour as the seating fabric. Sure, the thing is pricey, but it sure would look great next to that stack-of-wheels-with-a-glass-top table you’ve set out in your “man cave”, right?
