In case your eldest has been shooting you nasty looks after Christmas, maybe they’re frustrated something like this wasn’t sitting wrapped underneath the tree. Appealing to a child’s love for racing cars and their love for LEGOs, this LEGO Technic Porsche 911 RSR model should keep them quiet for the next few weeks, which would be a healthy way to bring in the new year.

To develop one of their most complex kits yet, Lego partnered with Porsche on this hyper-detailed and stunning RSR. The flowing lines of the 991, the angular aerodynamic elements, and the distinctive red, white, and black livery, catches the eye. More than just eye candy, this 1,580-piece kit features plenty of moving parts. The six-cylinder boxer engine with moving pistons. The differential too is a moving, working piece.

Other facets of the RSR include a rear wing with ‘swan neck’ mounts, an extended rear diffuser, and specially designed side mirrors. Inside the accessible cockpit resides a radar screen, working steering, a fire extinguisher system, and even a track map of the Laguna Seca circuit printed onto the driver’s door. There’s no shortage of detail here.

Whether you’re looking to decorate your office or mancave, convince your child to pursue a degree in engineering, or to make up for the gift of gym socks, this hyper-realistic LEGO Technic Porsche 911 RSR is a good way to go. After all, it’s not too late for a gift that was “lost in the mail”. Or, maybe, just buy one for yourself.
