It Rained Before The GT3 Cup Challenge This Weekend. What Happens As A Result Is Wild!

Similar to the GTLM class of the main race it supports, the Championship in the GT3 Cup Challenge was up for grabs this weekend at Petit Le Mans. With three leaders within seven points of each other it was anyone’s guess as to who would take the title. Then, right before the start of the race, it began to rain. Then they waved the green flag and this happened.

Of the three leaders in contention for the Championship Colin Thompson (driving the orange Kelly Moss Porsche) was the only one who didn’t end up off-track. As a result, he went on to win the race and the championship. You can watch the whole start, and resulting crash, play out in the video below.

  • Fate is a fickle thing ... she controls the weather, and thus, this year's champion. Crazy result!

  • Clever of Thompson to dump oil on that corner...We have all seen series won with dirty tactics.
Kidding, looks like his racing rains were the right chioce.
