Wait, there was a Porsche for sale 25-years ago that cost $180k? No, not really. Instead, in 1994, the 928 GTS had an MSRP around $88k. Taking inflation into account, that’s $180k in today’s dollars (at least that’s what Doug DeMuro says in this, his most recent video).
Originally intended to replace the 911 the Porsche 928 was sold from 1977 to 1995. The 928 GTS featured in this video, and all other 928 GTS’s for that matter, were only sold during the last 3-years of the 928’s production run. Considered the “ultimate” version, the 928 GTS had 350 horsepower (a lot for the time) and a number of interesting “quirks”.
Watch as Doug gives us not only a brief history lesson on the 928 as a whole, we also learn more about what he considers to be the “quirks” of the 928 and his driving impressions of a Porsche 25-years on.
