How Long Did You Wait To Buy Your First Porsche?

Chances are, no matter how long it was, Lewis Guernsey of Lansing, Michingan has you beat by a decade or two. Last week, on Veterans Day, Autoweek ran this feel good story about Guernsey and the recent purchase of his 2015 Boxster and we wanted to share it with you.

Guernsey and the rest of his B-26 bomber crew were shot down behind enemy lines during the last few months of World War II. Despite spending the final months of the war as a German prisoner of war, Guernsey developed quite an affinity to the Teutonic sports cars upon his return to the states and their subsequent introduction. What’s even more unique about Sgt. Lewis Guernsey and his tale of Porsche ownership is exactly how long it took him to buy his first Pcar. Autoweek has the full story and timeline, here.

  • I really enjoyed the story about the couple who at 90 purchased their first Porsche, may God bless them! What a great story, even after being a German POW he still wanted a German sports car after all those years! I sincerely hope they really have an opportunity to enjoy the car for many years.

Keep us the great work with Flat Sixes, we always look forward to the emails.

  • My Dad bought his first Porsche 1971 911e in 1979. It's ironic because he passed away on 11/11/14, the same day ya'll bought your Porsche. I now am getting his 'baby' back on the road again, so that his legacy continues.
