Here It Is! Porsche Finally Reveals The 991 GT3 RS In Geneva

After months of speculation, hundreds of rumors, leaked spec documents last week, and a few outlets releasing actual pictures a bit too early last night, the official reveal took place this morning at Porsche’s press conference in Geneva.

Here’s Are The Facts We Know For Now:

  • 500 hp and 338 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Specially developed PDK transmission
  • Zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds
  • Quarter mile on the track in 11.2 seconds
  • Comes with features like “paddle neutral” (like pressing in the clutch on a manual transmission) and “Pit Speed” button for limiting speeds during motorsport uses
  • Roof is made of magnesium
  • Carbon fiber is used for the engine and luggage compartment lids, and other components are made of weight saving materials
  • 22 pounds (10 kilograms) lighter than the 911 GT3
  • The body comes from the 911 Turbo
  • A 30 centimeter wide recess extends centrally over the CFRP hood and the magnesium roof
  • wheel arch air vents extend into the upper section of the fenders. These increase downforce at the front axle
  • Comes with Rear-axle steering and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with fully variable rear axle differential lock
  • It has full bucket seats based on the carbon bucket seats from the 918 Spyder
  • Optional Sport Chrono Package features the Porsche Track Precision app for smartphone use

The 911 GT3 RS is available to be ordered now. It will be available in the U.S.in early July of 2015. In the United States, the MSRP is $175,900. In the German market it will launch starting in May 2015 at a price of 181,690 euros including VAT and country-specific equipment. Lastly, it will arrive at Canadian dealers this summer with pricing starting from $200,700

  • Jo Schlesser died in a MAGNESIUM CLADDED HONDA FORMULA 1. He was incinerated !!!

    Can not believe that Porsche can built a car with Magnesium components.- maybe Magnesium alloy ??
