Porsche doesn’t like doing major changes to its iconic 911 sports car. Even across generations, the 911 carries over much of its styling and design, so it’s hardly surprising that a midcycle refresh on the current 992 doesn’t carry any significant differences. Still, spy photographers have recently caught both the refreshed coupe and cabrio 911 models out testing and wearing very little camouflage.
The facelift is going to give the 911 a new front bumper design, featuring vertical, active slats in the air intakes. The German automaker is still going out of its way to conceal the front lighting changes for the refresh, with these prototypes sporting some out-of-place lighting elements. In the rear, the bumper has some minor changes and it’s also where most of the camouflage still lies. What we can see however is that the exhaust design will change, shifting the rear license plate to sit above the exhaust, rather than in between.
Given how little camouflage these prototypes are wearing, we can expect the refreshed Porsche 911 to debut sometime this year and arrive at dealerships as a 2024 model. Minor changes to the powertrain in the lineup do typically come with Porsche refreshes, but don’t expect anything significant.
