Porsche’s New 992 GT3 Has Been Spotted Testing

Porsche does a lot of its new car testing in Italy at Monza, and even while the country remains a hotspot for coronavirus that hasn’t changed. The new 992-generation GT3 and what appears to be a new GT3 Touring have been spotted turning laps at the legendary track. You can tell by the sound that these are no ordinary 992 models. The whoosh of the turbocharged flat-six is gone, replaced by a high-pitched scream that can only be attributed to a naturally aspirated monster of a motor.

Thankfully YouTube legend 19Bozzy92 was out there at the track risking life and limb to bring us this delightfully zingy Porsche video, and for that we are grateful.

Obviously Porsche is going to need to outdo the last generation GT3 with this new one, so how much farther can the company even go? Will this one have a new engine with more displacement? Surely it will have even larger diameter wheels and wider grippier tires, but just how big are they going to go? How will Porsche make the large nearly-4000 pounds 992 chassis light enough to feel as light and nimble as something wearing a GT3 badge should feel?

We’ll have to wait for the details to come out when Porsche officially publishes them. We have no idea when this car will make its debut, but it doesn’t look like there will be any autoshows any time soon. Perhaps a nice video livestream will be announced in the next couple of months. In the meantime, feel free to speculate on the new GT3 in the comments section below.

  • Watching the Touring go over the ripple strips early in the clip the GT3T settled quickly when back on the black stuff.
Also interesting the higher and wider rear spoiler on the GT3 is starting to look more like a track car..
Great sound from the engine even if it has Particle filters i suspect.
