This Porsche Taycan Burst Into Flames In A Florida Garage

Every once in a while we see headlines of one electric car or another bursting into flames. When you’re trying to pack a lot of electrons into a battery, sometimes the chemistry inside turns unstable and a fire results. It’s a very low percentage, and being that the Taycan is still brand new I’m sure there are still a few kinks to work out. This is all speculation, of course, as we don’t have any indication as to what may have caused the fire, or the circumstances of the garage before the point of ignition. All we have is the below video depicting the grisly aftermath.

Electrified cars are certainly the future of the Porsche brand, and it will have to solve this problem before too long. But don’t forget that Porsche had a serious engine fire recall with the 991 GT3 when it first came out in 2014. It’s a fact of life that sometimes cars are built in a way that stuff like this can occasionally happen. For now, this is an isolated case of Taycan immolation, so we’ll keep the doom and gloom to a minimum. Porsche has not delivered many Taycan models to customers thus far, so we’ll have to wait and see if this becomes a bigger issue, or if this is just a blip on the radar of Taycan. The 991 GT3 is remembered fondly, so perhaps the Taycan doesn’t have much to worry about.

Porsche confirmed to Jalopnik that the car in the video is indeed a Taycan, and that no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
