Watch The Porsche Taycan Run An Acceleration Test Onboard An Aircraft Carrier

Forget pretense, let’s get straight to the point. The new Porsche Taycan is quick. It also has really good brakes. And here’s a video to prove it.

Porsche didn’t go with pomp and circumstance here. It’s a one-minute video that shows off a really important statistic of the new all-electric Taycan (likely to be the highest performance model called Turbo). To do so, they shoved professional driver Shea Holbrook behind the driver’s seat and told her to hammer on the accelerator until the dashboard said “90” and then hammer on the stop pedal until it said “0” again. Oh, and all of this would be happening on the flight deck of the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.

Sure, there’s a little bit of drama in doing this across such a short plane. But Porsche wouldn’t be doing this if they weren’t confident that the Taycan was more than capable of acing such a test. It’s a flex of muscle. A display of quantifiable might. Porsche knew exactly how much distance was required to accelerate to 90 and brake back to zero again. The deck of the carrier was more than enough room to get that job done. Obviously.
