A little over a month ago, Gooding & Co. announced the addition of a 1969 Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, to its Pebble Beach Auctions to be held this coming August. The automotive and mainstream press (ourselves included) eagerly jumped on the story and rumors of a potential new record price for this “iconic” Porsche 917 quickly grew. It was definitely THE auction to watch this summer. However, a little less than two weeks before the auction, FLATSIXES.com has learned that 917-024 will no longer be on offer during the Gooding & Co. auction. When we reached out to Gooding for more details we were simply told that,
The car has been withdrawn from the sale. Gooding & Company does not comment on property withdrawn from our auctions.
We don’t have more details and it doesn’t look like any are forthcoming. We simply want to make sure that those planning on watching this particular Porsche cross the block know that it will no longer be there.

Pulled probably because of the fact that it may be fake as some other 917's are.
