Our Favorite Porsches on eBay: Volume 70

We’ve been compiling some amazing Porsche models on eBay for over two years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. We recently started publishing our picks once a week instead of our prior bi-weekly schedule, in an effort to bring you more exciting Porsche auction action. Check back often for different cars! This week we have a good diversity of selections. A newer C4S Cabriolet that we’ve been watching, a Targa C4S that surprises us with how well the color combo works, a Safari donor SC, a “hulking” race car and 914 Bumblebee that looks incredible but desperately calls for a PPI. Keep in mind, some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S For Sale

I’m on the hunt for a year-round 911 (my 993 C4S gets stored in the winter). I live in the North East so it has to be able to manage the occasional snowy commute. I’ve no plans to drive it through blizzard like conditions (that’s what our Cayenne is for), but I do plan on putting snow tires on and not worrying if a few flakes fall. I like this white over black color scheme (especially with the white hard back sport seats). I actually tried to contact the dealer this morning via their chat function, but that turned out to be so painful I gave up. We’ll see where pricing goes with this auction and hopefully, we won’t be bidding against any of you!

2. 2015 Porsche 911 Targa 4S For Sale

I’ve been infatuated with the new Targa since they were first introduced. I’ve talked to a lot of people who worry about the complexity of the top, but after a lot of research, I think their fears are unfounded. Porsche insists that the top uses 90% of the mechanicals from their standard cabriolet top and it’s only the little flaps that make up the difference. Sure all tops have trouble from time to time, but there’s no reason this should have more. What especially intriguing to me about this Targa is the color combination. I’m not usually a fan of red over gray, but in this instance it just works. What do you think?

3. 1975 Porsche 911 SC For Sale

We’re always talking about having Leh Keen build us one of his Safaris. In fact, if money were no object (and storage space for that matter) we would already have one. As a result, we look for donor cars all the time. The Porsche in this add just might fit the bill. It ran when parked and still runs now, but needs work to make it right. If you’re going to be doing the work anyway, and the car’s no longer original, why not hand it off to Lee and let him work his magic on it. Not sure where the price ends up on this one, but if it stays under $20k you have the ultimate donor car in my mind.

4. One-of-one Porsche Boxster S with Audi 4.2 V8 Engine For Sale

We first saw this “hulk” of a Porsche last week on another site talking about the engine swap. Now, it’s come up for sale. I can only imagine the performance potential of this Porsche with a 4.2 V8 engine sitting in the middle. Check out the full list of modifications in the sellers description and see if this is a car you would want for your track day toy. I might have to change the color, regardless of how fast it might be.

5. 1974 Porsche 914 LE Can Am Targa Bumblebee For Sale

This is, perhaps, one of the most interesting ads I’ve seen on eBay to date. It’s complete with a beautiful video and a bevy of slick/glossy photos, but there is no seller’s description that we can find. That means no information is given about this 914 at all. You’re left just to marvel at the beautiful photos. But how many owners has this 914 had? The COA shows it to be a “true” CanAm edition. Is it on the registry? What’s the history of this car? What’s the undercarriage look like? How about the mechanicals and the infamous “hell hole”? Personally, I’m a huge fan of these 914s but would need to do a ton of due dilligence before even considering a bid. Caveat Emptor for sure.
