Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 45

We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for about a year and a half now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. There is some great new stuff every two weeks, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including a Brumos-aping Liberty Walk widebody 997, a paint to sample 991 GT3 RS, a 997 GT3 that needs some work, a 996 GT3 that looks like a great car, and an overpriced “market adjusted” Cayman GT4. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. Market Adjusted 2015 Cayman GT4 For Sale

The Cayman GT4 is an excellent machine, possibly among the best Porsche has ever produced. I know that I fell in love with the car when I drove it, and many owners have said the same. The car has inspired a racing version, the Clubsport, that has already won its first race this season, and they always fly off the dealer floor when they are around. Having studied economics, and auction results for the last few years, I am a firm believer that something is worth what people are willing to pay for it. That said, it strikes me as a bit absurd that a Porsche dealer would be listing a Certified Pre-Owned GT4 for nearly fifty-thousand dollars more than the car’s original MSRP. This Cayman has about 2000 miles on it, and while it does look brand new, I’m not sure that I’d be willing to pay 50% again on top of the MSRP for what is essentially a used car.

The GT4 was a good seller for Porsche, and I’m sure more will be coming soon. So why not place an order for one and wait until your brand new GT4 is delivered? Is this just a matter of the ‘instant gratification’ culture that we’ve become accustomed to? Who knows, maybe I’m the one who is in the wrong here.

2. Low Mile 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 For Sale

Outside of the Cayman GT4, the 996 GT3 might be my second-favorite Porsche ever built. This is just an amazing piece of machinery, so pure and so simple, providing one of the most involving driving experiences on four wheels. The 996 GT3 will live on for decades as one of the last pure GT cars, and even though it wasn’t the most powerful thing available, even in its day, it was capable of taking down much higher horsepower cars. This car is the modern embodiment of early Porsche values. Is it the most beautiful thing they’ve ever made? No, not really. But it might be one of the most fun.

Trust me when I say this, the 996 GT3 will only increase in value. It may not be many years before we see cars like this one trading hands for 6 figures. I’ve watched these appreciate for the last 6 years or so, and in that time they’ve exploded. Get one while you still can.

3. Project-Grade 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 For Sale

Okay, the 997 GT3 is a close representation of the 996 GT3’s brilliance. This example will probably not ever be a valuable or collectible car, however, as it’s had a bit of a smashening. Because of that, though, this car is an absolute bargain. According to the sellers (LA Porsche Dismantler), the car is only in need of a front bumper cover and a passenger’s side radiator to be returned to the track or street. They’re only asking 60 grand for the car, which is several thousand dollars less than what you’d normally find one listed for, and if you’re looking for a dedicated track car, you could certainly start with a lot worse. Toss in a set of aftermarket radiators to handle the excess heat of track running, and find a fiberglass front bumper from one supplier or another, and you could have this car back on track for just a couple grand. Why are you still reading this? Go buy it!

4. Paint to Sample Gulf Blue 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS For Sale

There’s really nothing I could tell you about the GT3 RS that you don’t already know. This particular car, however, is painted in a glorious shade of Gulf Blue (Gulfblau) that is to die for. Whether you’re remembering the Gulf 917s of the early 1970s, or just appreciate how a gorgeous color accentuates the gorgeous expansive flanks of a widebody 991, we can all agree that this car looks spectacular, right?

991 GT3 RS have been selling at much higher than MSRP lately, and this one is no exception. The asking price is just $185 dollars shy of $400 grand. Much like the Cayman above, I think that’s absurd, but who am I to judge? If you have to have a GT3 RS, and you have to have this color, you haven’t got many options. The same seller has an UltraViolet 991 GT3 RS listed for $350,000, so is Gulf Blue worth $50 grand to you?

5. 2009 Porsche 911 Turbo RFS59 Liberty Walk Widebody

I’ve seen this car in person a handful of times, and it is certainly eye-catching. The car made it out to the west coast for Rennsport and SEMA among others. This car was also driven on Magnus Walker’s MOMO Convoy up the coast to Rennsport, so you know that it can be driven on long trips without any issues, which is a good thing for any car that was shown at SEMA.

The fact that this car is fitted with a Liberty Walk kit is, on its own, a rarity. Supposedly, this car being a manual-transmission 997 Turbo is also rare, as only 227 of these were made for US consumption that year. When you throw in the gorgeous Brumos-esque Bob Snodgrass tribute livery (this one uses paler versions of the iconic colors) and the rare “Velos Designwerks C1” wheels, you’ve got a car that will turn heads.
