At Least 3 Of Jerry Seinfeld’s Porsches Coming Up For Sale

Update: Gooding & Co has confirmed to FLATSIXES.com that these 3 are indeed just a sample of a larger number of Jerry’s Porsches that will be for sale at the auction. More details on the other Porsches will be released in the coming weeks and we’ll have that info for you just as soon as we can.

It was just last week we were complaining that the auction season seemed to be getting off to a slow start in the world of Porsche. Well, earlier today, Gooding & Company turned that notion on its head when they announced an “Unprecedented Offering From The Esteemed Jerry Seinfeld Collection to Headline Amelia Island Auction“. That’s right, an unknown number of Porsches from Jerry’s personal collection are coming on the market.

Selections from The Jerry Seinfeld Collection that will be on display at Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale Auctions.

The release goes onto say that Gooding is “honored to announce a selection of consignments from The Jerry Seinfeld Collection to be sold at the Amelia Island Auction on March 11, 2016.” However, what really caught our eye was this sentence, “A sampling of this exceptional collection will feature three historic Porsches at Gooding & Company’s annual Scottsdale Auctions marquee beginning January 27, 2016.” In other words, the 3 Porsches on display in Scottsdale are just a “sampling” of those to be sold from his collection during the Amelia Island auction.

How Many Porsches Is Jerry Selling?

At this point it’s anyone’s guess, but we’ll go on record saying it’s more than the three (3) presented here. As for why he’s selling, Jerry had this to say, “I’ve never bought a car as an investment, I don’t really even think of myself as a collector. I just love cars. And I still love these cars. But it’s time to send some of them back into the world, for someone else to enjoy, as I have.” In other words, Jerry is an enthusiast first and foremost and if he’s not finding the time to drive his cars he wants to make sure they end up in the hands of someone that will.

Which Of Jerry’s Porsches Are For Sale

So far we only know about 3 for sure. They are thee 3 Porsches to be on display in Scottsdale including:

  • 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder
    (Estimate: $5,000,000-$6,000,000)
  • 1958 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster
    (Estimate: $2,000,000-$2,500,000)
  • 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR
    (Estimate: $1,200,000-$1,500,000)

As to how much they’ll sell for, right now it’s too soon to say. Outside of the limited offerings in Scottsdale, we’ve seen no signs of the market slowing down. So, will global economic and current market conditions be a factor in the sale of these cars? Or, will scarcity, demand and celebrity provenance help set records for Gooding on Amelia Island? We’ll let you know just as soon as they cross the block.
