Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 26

We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on ebay for almost a year now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. There is some great new stuff every two weeks, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including an insanely-priced insanely-nice Carrera GT, a 50th Anniversary car, a 964 Strosek, a Cayenne GTS with a stick, and an oddly proportioned Ruf. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. Million-Dollar 2005 Porsche Carrera GT For Sale

This listing is utterly pitiful. The photos are lackluster, the description is nonexistent, and the price is ludicrous. I’ve seen Carrera GT prices rising rapidly over the last year, but I never thought I would see someone quite so brazen as to ask nearly a million dollars for one, especially when they offer no reason for their well-above-average pricing strategy. About 3-years ago, cars in this condition/mileage range were selling at around $300,000. Just 6-months ago, we profiled that cars were stretching into the $500,000 price range. Carrera GTs these days are apparently selling at around 800K and above. I understand that the Carrera GT is one of the best cars Porsche has ever made, and is probably the last true analog supercar, but does that really translate to a near doubling in value in 6 months? I guess if people are paying prices like this, it’s justified.

2. Manual Transmission 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS For Sale

The 958 generation Cayenne GTS may well have been the most Porsche of all Cayenne models, as this one was available with a 6-speed manual transmission behind 4.8 liters of V8 grunt. I’ve always been fascinated by this stick-shifted truck, and they are properly rare. One only pops up every now and again, and I’ve personally only seen a small handful of them for sale ever. Everyone I know who has owned one says it was a fantastic car, and if they’ve sold theirs, they regret it. This would make a phenomenal family truckster, a great commuter, and with that GTS Sport Exhaust, an excellent alarm clock for your neighbors. It’s sporty, loud, obnoxious, and properly quick, just as a Porsche should be. The deep maroon paint works so well with this Porsche’s body lines. I like this enough that I contemplated taking a last minute road trip to Dallas to pick it up. Clearer heads prevailed, and I won’t be adding this one to my collection, but I sure wish I were.

3. Strosek Widebody Speedster 1994 Porsche 911 (964) For Sale

This Strosek Speedster is an oddball in the annals of Porsche history, but I find them just so cool. It’s a pretty rare bird, and the fact that this one has only 8000 miles on the odometer is fantastic. Of course, the low mileage could be indicative of an owner who didn’t really want to be caught driving such an ugly car… It’s a fun car in an ironic “look how 90s it is” kind of way, and being a 911 speedster underneath, it still drives like a dream, I’m sure. Would I want it in my garage? You bet. At the current price of only 85 grand (reserve not met) it seems like a decent deal, too. Your mileage may vary.

4. Beautiful 2014 Porsche 911 S 50th Anniversary For Sale

Is there anything negative that can be said about the 50th Anniversary Edition? It just might be the perfect Porsche. It’s fast, comfortable, beautiful, exciting, and compelling to drive. It’s got the right amount of vintage inspired touches like the wheels, and rear decklid vents, to remind you of “the good old days” without actually making you live through the lack of air conditioning or supportive seats. This particular car is well preserved with only 1500 miles on the chassis, and even comes with the remainder of the factory warranty. The asking price is a bit more than they were from the dealership, assuming you were able to get one at MSRP (which probably didn’t happen that often). If this is the car you’re looking for, though, you’re probably willing to pay the slight premium.

5. 2008 Ruf Dakara Turbo (Modified Porsche Cayenne) For Sale

This Ruf is an odd one. Much like the Strosek, there’s a bit of oddness to its proportions. I don’t know why, but I feel like this kind of works. It’s definitely dated, but it certainly looks unique, and 997-style headlights will always be better than 958 Cayenne headlights. The fact that this is based on one of the highest performance SUVs ever made is just an added bonus. 4.8 turbocharged liters of fury, this truck is a riot to drive. I’ve always loved everything Ruf put their name on, and it is hard to call this an exception. It’s weird looking, but there’s something endearing about it. The 22″ Ruf-design wheels don’t hurt, either. That simple 5-spoke wheel works well on all Porsche models. What do you think? Too weird to love, or just unique enough to enjoy?
