Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 39

We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for over a year now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. There is some great new stuff every two weeks, so check back often. We’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for you nice people to purchase today, including a street car turned track car, a street car meant to emulate a track car, a beautiful and rare 930 Cabriolet, a Cayenne Transsyberia, and a Pre-A Bent-Window Cabriolet. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 1974 Porsche 911 935-street Recreation For Sale

This is an interesting listing, as it certainly looks a bit 935-ish, but not the 935 they were really aiming for with this Coca Cola livery. This body is more akin to the earliest 935s, including the factory-backed Martini Racing cars, or even Kremer’s K1. The car of which this one is trying to copy, the Roy Woods, Bobby Rahal, Bob Akin car from Daytona and Sebring of 1980, was kitted with the later Kremer K3 bodywork, which is vastly different to what is shown here. A valiant effort, and close, but no cigar. The other less than favorable feature is that this car is fitted with chromed fuchs wheels. After the late 1960s, no race cars were ever presented on fuchs, and certainly not chrome ones. This car would look much better with a set of gold BBS mesh wheels, or even the “turbofan” wheels that were common in the 1980s. The fact that the car is only fitted with a 3.0 liter engine grabbed from a 911SC would indicate that the car has very little of the ‘go’ that its ‘show’ would indicate. With some work, this could be an excellent car, and if none of that bothers you, this could be the one for you. Heck, they even offer financing.

2. 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet For Sale

This is an exceedingly rare car that has very few peers in the collector market. Porsche’s 911 Turbo is a really hot commodity among hoarders these days, and this is the absolute pinnacle of the 930 market. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet was only available in 88 and 89, and the 5-speed transmission was only available in 89, making this car a one-year-only proposition. If you want a great open air experience with the white knuckle rush of a 930, this might be the one you need. Besides, how can you go wrong with a Guards Red Porsche? The price is a bit sky-high, but you’re paying for rarity, quality, and a blue-chip collectible in the Porsche market (Which can’t seem to settle down anyway). Get it before it’s gone.

3. 2010 Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia Rally Edition For Sale

For three years, Porsche dominated the Transsyberia rally with the 955 generation Cayenne. The rally is a 4400 mile event across Russia, Siberia, and Mongolia, and Porsche built this special edition Cayenne to commemorate their victories. Effectively the Transsyberia Cayenne was gifted the GTS engine before the GTS existed, featuring a bump in power, as well as an optional manual transmission (sadly this one does not have it), and an eye-searing graphics package with color matched wheels. It is a unique car, and if you want to travel almost anywhere in comfort, this might be the off-roader for you. It’s definitely a head-turner, and one that has had my attention since it was introduced.

4. 1953 Porsche 356 Pre-A Bent-Window Cabriolet For Sale

As 356s go, it doesn’t get much more rare than a bent-window cabriolet. Porsche was still a very small auto maker when these cars were being rolled out, and in fact had only moved back to Germany from Gmund a couple of years prior. It takes a particular set of values to appreciate the early 356 driving experience, as there is not much in the way of acceleration, and the body rolls like you’re listing a galleon over swells to the starboard side. Much like fine cigars, ryes and wines, it’s an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you’re hooked for life. This is an excellent car to get hooked on. The early Pre-A 356 is, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeous cars ever produced, as it is how the designers wanted it, without government intervention that required changes in later iterations. If you have the room in your Porsche collection, and the spare cash to afford it, I highly recommend looking at this car personally. It looks like a gem.

5. 2007 Porsche Cayman S 4-Liter Racing Car For Sale

While some of the other cars actually have investment value, this car does not. This is a car that is pure and simple built to have fun. A 4 liter engine in the middle of a Cayman sounds like a recipe for a great time at the track. I’m not sure of the current state of this car’s street legality status, but I’m sure it wouldn’t really take that much to make it so, considering what some states deem street legal. This car is very clearly built for ludicrous speeds at any race track you care to take it to. In fact, it was the 2014 SE division NASA GTSU class champion. I mean, just look at this build sheet!
