RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island Sale Puts Porsche’s 964 Front And Center With Exclusively Porsche Collection

This year for their Amelia Island sale, RM Sotheby’s is preparing the “Exclusively Porsche” collection to blow the world away yet again. While it’s not as mind-blowing and far-reaching as the Seinfeld collection was from a few years ago, it’s a broader approach to collectibility. Technically, this collection of cars only includes eleven of the rarest and most collectible 964-generation Porsche 911 models, as the twelfth car is actually a 1989 930 slant-nose. [While not a 964, it is certainly still awesome.] If you’ve been looking for a particularly rare 964, chances are you’ll find it in this bunch. If you’ve been looking for a way to start a properly enviable 964 collection, however, just go ahead and commit yourself to buying all of them right now.

A large percentage of this collection (58% to be exact) comes with yellow paint, it appears to be a split of Speed Gelb and Ferrari Gelb, but Gelb all the same. Being that I have a yellow Porsche in my own garage, I am intrigued by the person who would have collected so many. Personally, I’m fine with just one, but seven is dedication.

RM has the particulars of each car listed and they appear to all be world-class, low-mile collector-grade Porsches that are ready to join any fanatic’s stable. In my opinion, some of the pre-auction estimates are bonkers, and I’d be seriously surprised to see million-dollar 964s become a reality, but only time will tell.
