Unintended Oversteer: Porsche Macan Anti-Roll Bar Recall

Porsches have a reputation for tail-happy behavior. Of course that reputation is largely thanks to the rear-engined placement in their sports cars and under skilled or over-confident drivers. By contrast, Porsche’s SUVs have proven swift, stable and very predictable handlers. A recent recall announcement shows that some Macans are affected by an issue with the sway bar links which can cause them to move out of position, causing unpredictable oversteer characteristics.

Recall is Valid in both US and the UK

According to the recall notice on the NHTSA web-site, this issue affects a very small number of Macans across the model range (245 in the US), including the base car, S, Turbo and GTS. Across the pond, per a report on Autocar the same issues affects 102 UK-owned Macans.

In both countries, if your Macan is affected Porsche will notify you and the front anti-roll bar links will be replaced free of charge. If, on the other hand, you don’t feel like waiting you can call Porsche directly in the US at 800-767-7243. Porsche’s reference number for this recall is AG06.
