Porsche has already confirmed that this will be the final generation of Macan to be powered by a gasoline engine, moving to a fully electric lineup in the next generation. The thing is, when Porsche changes tack, they always move the nameplate to its ultimate progression before making that commitment to change. The new Macan Turbo is perhaps the ultimate gasoline-powered compact SUV in history. By making the current car as good as it is, Porsche is setting an incredibly high bar for itself in the development of the next generation.
Check out Mr. Rory Reid taking this ultimate Macan out for a full review. This is perhaps the most pragmatic review of the Macan we’ve seen, including a review of the back seat, the storage area in the rear hatch, and the totally awesome Euro tow-hitch feature! I like to think of the Macan as a hot hatch on stilts, because it drives with much more stability and grip than anything else in its class. Personally, I would have loved if Porsche had built this a few inches closer to the ground, but if you absolutely must have an SUV, this is a pretty great one to get.
Fast and powerful as it is, I expect the electric replacement next gen to be even faster and even more powerful. While the Macan is still burdened with a hydrocarbon-emitting internal combustion engine, it’s a good job that this one is as good as it is. Is this the last hurrah for Porsche’s twin-turbo V6 SUV? I bet they’ll build something even faster before this car’s time is up. Just watch this space for news as it comes out.

More IC BS . will it help the environment , not really. electricity does not fall free from the air as we are lead to believe. Too bad VW AG screwed the pooch with the TDIs, great cars but they were too smug to want just a little more and now we are stuck with EVs . I Really don't care about how fast the EV 0-60 is, an E golf still can't cover my daily commute without plugging in at both stops and crossing fingers.
Your commute is 60 miles? You are what the industry calls a "fringe case".
Right on! Give me Petrol for my vehicles the tree huggers be damned
Ya, Porsche would have had done it's home work before deciding to all electric Macan, due to the customers who will drive the SUV which would be city drivers.
It will be a better car for the purpose as not many will be going off road with them, i will miss the petrol engine, as i have driven the current Panamera 2.9 Twin Turbo V6 on highway, country roads and city traffic over 4 days and the engine is a pearler, economical while cruising and highway and even in town, but stick your boot into and it makes the Panamera feel as light as Air Cooled 911 turbo just brilliant.
The new all electric Macan might suit a majority of the buyers but i will miss the petrol engine and its noise.
