In September we learned that Porsche issues what might be the smallest safety recall ever for the 918 Spyder due to a potentially faulty rear control arm. That problem had the potential to affect a total of just 5 cars. This week we learned of a slightly larger recall, one that affects 205 Porsche 918s worldwide. While still a small number in comparison to mainstream recalls, it’s pretty significant in terms of a percentage of total production (Porsche is only making 918 units in total).
Porsche issued this recall as a precautionary measure. At this point no parts have broken, but because Porsche determined that the functionality of certain chassis components, manufactured during a specific time period, cannot be permanently guaranteed they are opting to the replace them. Of the 205 vehicles impacted, all owners have already been contacted. The repair will take 2 days and will be completed by Porsche at no charge.

Reminds me of the rod bolt failures in the new GT3. Bad batch of parts?
