After all the teasing and speculation the wait is finally over. Well in advance of the planned debut in Frankfurt Porsche released details, pricing, specs and pictures on the all new 2012 Porsche 911.
Specs on the 2012 Porsche 911
- Longer wheelbase (just shy of 4 inches), reduced height, weight reduction of up to 100 lbs
- Interior inspired by Carrera GT
- Smaller base engine with more power (3.4/350 hp); S engine remains 3.8,
gains 15 hp for 400 total - World’s first seven-speed manual transmission
- Substantially improved performance. The 911 Carrera S with PDK accelerates from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds. Using the Launch Control function of the optional Sport Chrono Package cuts that to 3.9 seconds. The 911 Carrera with PDK needs only 4.4 seconds to sprint from a standing start to 60 mph (4.2 seconds when using the optional Sport Chrono Package’s Launch Control function). Top-track speed for the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera is 188 mph and 179 mph, respectively with reduced consumption and emissions of up to 16%
- Start-stop technology, electromechanical power steering, optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control
2012 Porsche 911 Global Pricing
- The first new 911 models will arrive in U.S. dealerships beginning in February of 2012. The new 911 Carrera Coupe will have a base MSRP of $82,100, while the 911 Carrera S Coupe’s base MSRP will be $96,400 (excluding destination)
- Canadian Sales will start at roughly the same tie with pricing expected to be $93,700 (Carrera) and $110,000 (Carrera S)
- The launch of the new 911 models gets under way on December 3, 2011. The new cars can be ordered from September 1st. Prices in Germany are 88,038 euro for the 911 Carrera and 102,436 euro for the 911 Carrera S, including 19 per cent VAT and market-specific equipment

If it is as good to drive as it sounds like it is going to be, then I want one!
It looks pretty good in the photos although I dont like the headlights and still dont like the all perforated seat face. I will have to wait to see in person for finial judgement.
Finally a nice rear end the likes of which we haven't seen since the 993
I want to see pics of the 7-speed manual, shift pattern and lever placement
I have to say that as far as first impressions go this by far the best effort in 15 years,
both aesthetically and dynamically
