For the past week now the internet has been awash with rumors and speculation about the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S. Long time followers of PorschePurist will know that we’ve never been a big fan of Porsche rumors so we usually wait until we receive official word from Porsche themselves before you see anything here. Well, that word came today. Below you’ll find the first “official” pictures, pricing, specs and delivery information on the latest variation of the 911 to fill out the Porsche model line.
How Much Do the new 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S Cost?
As with other iterations in the past, Porsche is launching this all-wheel drive 911 in four flavors; The 911 Carrera 4 coupe and cabriolet and the 911 Carrera 4S coupe and cabriolet. U.S. MSRP for each model is as follows:
- $91,030 for the C4 coupe
- $105,630 for the C4S coupe
- $102,930 for the C4 cabriolet
- $117,530 for the C4S cabriolet

Viewed from the rear, most Porsche enthusiasts will note the most distinct feature of the all wheel drive version right away; a wider rear-end! In fact, as compared to the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera models, the rear fenders each extend 22mm further outward equating to nearly two extra inches of total width. With the addition of wider rear tires and a red light band connecting the two tailights, the new all-wheel drive Carrera’s stance looks more aggressive.
Power for the various versions is the same as in their two-wheeled drive cousins. The 911 Carrera 4 coupe and cabriolet each have a 3.4 boxer engine making 350 hp (allowing for a top speeds of 177 mph and 175 mph respectively and dependent upon equipment). While the Carrera 4S coupe and cabriolet are powered similar to the two-wheeled Carrera S with a 3.8 liter rear mounted engine that produces 400 hp and can accelerate the 4S from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds when equipped with PDK and the Sport Chrono Package. Of interest to some may be the fact that the Carrera 4S has the same acceleration capabilities as the two-wheel drive version. Something that wasn’t always the case with past models.
What’s New in the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S?
A new menu item in the instrument cluster will greet drivers of either model and provide information on how the Porsche Traction Managment (PTM) all-wheel drive system is distributing engine power to the wheels. In addition, Porsche’s Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is available (and will now be available on the entire 911 range). When ordered in conjunction with PDK, the ACC system adds the safety function of Porsche Active Safe (PAS). PAS is designed to help prevent front-end collisions at speeds greater than 20 mph. Lastly, the coupe version will now be available with a sliding glass sunroof as an optional feature.
When Can I Buy a 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 or Carrera 4S?
Set to debut at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show the new 911 models will launch at the end of 2012 in the rest of the world and will be available here in the U.S. sometime at the beginning of February 2013.
