UPDATE: First pics purported to be of the new 911 Targa leak ahead of today’s world premier.
Last Thursday Porsche sent out a press release “confirming” that the new 911 Targa would, in fact, be revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. However, regular readers of FLATSIXES.com know that Porsche already confirmed the much anticipated presence of the new Targa to us a couple of weeks ago. Regardless, it was no surprise that one of the more anticipated 911 model redesigns would make an appearance. What’s still unknown at this point is exactly how the Targa top with operate.
Porsche Teases New 911 Targa Functionality In Video
Rumor and renderings have been flying around the interwebs for months now. We’ve seen leaked patent images and rudimentary drawings of the Targa top’s supposed operation. However, Porsche’s latest video probably gives us the biggest clue of them all. Showing the details of a large roof opening mechanically the short video tells us, “if you’re going to have a roof over your head, make it an amazing one.”

For those that can’t make it to Detroit you the introduction of the 911 Targa will be streamed live on Monday, Jan. 13 at 11:45 a.m. EST via www.porsche.com/detroit. For those that can’t watch online or would prefer to watch via satellite, you’ll find viewing information at the end of this post.
In addition to the 911 Targa, the Cayenne Platinum Edition and Cayenne Platinum Edition Diesel will be shown for the first time at an auto show in Detroit. Also in attendance will be the Porsche Macan S and Macan Turbo.
