The 718 Boxster (or Cayman), it’s Newer- But is it better?

I had been itching to try the latest Boxster with all the controversy surrounding this car. I will be the first to admit I’m leery of change. I often don’t want to accept the latest fad or lingo. I adored our ‘06 987 Boxster – the feeling with the top down, the handling and that great soundtrack. I love classics, and although the older Boxsters are not really a classic, they still feel as though they are from another era with that great flat-six sound!
Even with all that, I wanted to experience what some have called the ‘Subaru Sounding’ four-cylinder turbo engine in the latest 718. Oh, the outcry from NA to turbo alone! Who would do such a thing! Still, I had heard it is superior in just about every way to the outgoing 987/981 generations. Could it overcome the feedback and excitement of that traditional NA-six? Ride along with me as I take out a relatively new 2018 718 base model Boxster for a ride in the Colorado mountains. Let’s see if this amazing car can get along with two fewer cylinders. Let me know your thoughts – are four cylinders enough?
