Pricing, Pictures and Specs Of The New Base Cayenne and GTS

When Porsche announced the face-lifted Cayenne back in July, the base model was conspicuously absent from the line-up. Today, Porsche announced that not only is the base model back, but so is its much bigger more powerful brother, the Cayenne GTS.

Let’s Start With The 2015 Cayenne GTS

Premiering at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19th, the new Cayenne GTS is powered by an enhanced version of the 3.6 liter V6 twin turbo found in the new Cayenne S. Power output is increased by 20 hp to 440 hp and torque by 62 ft.-lbs. to 445 ft.-lbs. Amazingly, along with increased power and torque come reduced fuel consumption. Like other GTS models, the Sport exhaust system is standard. With the standard PASM and air suspension, the Cayenne GTS sits 20 millimeters lower and is stopped using the same brakes found on the Cayenne Turbo (390 millimeter rotors on the front axle; 58 millimeters at the back). All this combines to allow the Cayenne GTS to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 163 mph.

Externally, the GTS shares the turbo’s nose facia along with body color painted roof spoiler and rocker panels. Contrasting the body colored trim are black accents including 20-inch RS Spyder wheels, the exhaust tailpipes, the Bi-Xenon™ headlights’ inner apertures and the fittings of the tinted LED rear lights.

On the inside, the GTS comes with eight-way electrically adjustable sport seats in leather/Alcantara upholstery and can be optionally ordered in the Carmine Red or Rhodium Silver.

Pricing Of The New Cayenne GTS

If A Cayenne GTS sounds like the right choice for you then make sure you bring a check for $95,500 in the U.S. and $108,200 in Candada.

The Base Cayenne Is Back

As the owner of a base model Cayenne, and one that’s getting a bit long in the tooth with 110,000 miles on it, I for one was excited to see that Porsche is bringing the base trim level back. Yeah, the extra torque and horsepower of the S, Turbo, and GTS would be nice, but each time I compare them, for what I’m going to be doing with mine, the base is all I need. For 2015 Porsche brings back that familiar naturally aspirate 3.6 liter V6. Making 300 hp, the base Cayenne isn’t blisteringly fast, but it still gets you from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds (.2 seconds faster than the last model).

More importantly, as compared to the previous base model, the new Cayenne offers a more comprehensive array of standard features. In addition to the new eight-speed Tiptronic S with Auto Start/Stop, these also include, for instance, the Bi-Xenon™ headlights with four-point LED daytime driving lights, and the multi-function sport steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Pricing Of The New Base Cayenne

Like most of their models, the MSRP is just the start when it comes to purchasing a Porsche as options can and do add up quickly. However, with a starting point of $58,300 in the U.S. and $67,400 in Canada, you have a lot more room to pick and choose those options.
