Given the success of the Cayenne, and Porsches much publicized call to increase sales, I suppose it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. In fact, with the merger of VW and Porsche, there’s even a possible platform to be shared in the form of the VW Amarok. Even more surprising, there is some precedent in the form of private conversions like this Porsche 914 Pickup and this Porsche 928 Pickup conversion.

While I think a Porsche pickup truck is unlikely any time soon, it’s still fun to see renditions of what one might look like. What do you think? Given Porsche’s push to increase sales will we see a Porsche pickup truck with that oh so familiar badge at some point in the future?

The Chevy El Camino had its place but shares the same essential problem with this concept drawing: what can you carry in that space? If one is going to render such an idea, it makes sense to modularize it (4'X8' for plywood, sheetrock, etc), or size it (carry a bike, a ski-doo, etc) for a particular toy of the demographic that is targeted.
The utility of the vehicle is important in a truck; this one is not practical as drawn, as was the El Camino.
@Ronald,
Very valid points. It's difficult to see how much cargo area this Porsche TranSport concept would provide. I'm assuming that the cargo bed is longer than it appears by way of extending into what appears to be the rear seats. Regardless, it will be curious to see what others think and if they (or you) think there is a spot in the Porsche line-up for this type of vehicle.
I hope they make a pickup , just keep deluding the brand and the price of my 1987 carrera will be worth more than 3 new 911's.
Never really bought into the who "diluting" the brand argument. What happens to the brand if they run out of money or can't stay in business? As long as they don't play with the 911 (build it on a VW platform or power it with an Audi engine) things should be just fine.
