Introducing the Porsche “Cayvan”. It’s a Cayman Station Wagon And Porsche Should Build It!

Theophilus Chin has been chopping and rendering cars since at least January 2009. While I don’t always like everything he does, the Porsche Cayman Station Wagon (a.k.a. the Porsche Cayvan) he posted earlier this week looks like something I wouldn’t mind seeing come off the production line.

If his work looks familiar that’s because we’ve featured it here on FLATSIXES.com before. Remember when we asked you if Porsche should build a 3-door Macan? That was Chin’s work as well.

Not all of Chin’s work resonates with me. I wasn’t a fan of his compact hatchback rendering or his Cayenne coupe. However, I do like his take on what the Panamera could eventually evolve into (below). I’m not quite sure what his change to the back of the Porsche’s 4-door sedan would do to rear headroom, but I definitely like the look.

What say you? Is the Porsche Cayman station wagon (the #Cayvan) something you would want to see from Porsche?

  • Love the hatch back rendering, also love the hatchback panamera Porsche rendered a few years back. The 4 door looks like a late Saab (9.5 maybe?) that was produced for a year before Saab got killed off in 09'ish With that said, I'm a fan of the Saab, but the Porsche that to me looks like a Saab, isn't too great. I also think Porsche needs to stop all these new models that are not 2 door sports cars...funding has been established already, I feel its enough, its a Porsche, not MB or BMW, they don't need to compete with everything luxury.

  • Count me in. I have driven Audi A6 Avants for years and am saddened by Audi's dropping them from US sales. As long as (as mentioned above) it has 4WD and other typical goodies similar to the Audi I'll get in line.

  • I like it, good rendering of what an M-coupe could look like in Porsche clothing. With that said could we kindly go back to producing sports-cars and not water down the brand more, its bad enough ever 5th SUV at the local Grocery store has a Porsche Badge. Someone please call 911!

  • I don't like it. We already have the Panamera. We don't need this. Next we will have 911 wagons and maybe a Boxster wagon? If Porsche keeps expanding their product line than I'm afraid they won't be able to keep their focus on what got them where they are today, making outstanding sports cars.

    • Gregg, I have to respectfully disagree with you on several points. This Cayman wagon is completely different from a Panamera; The Cayman-wagon would be a 2-seat wagon, the Panamera a much larger 4-seat, 4-door sedan. A 911 wagon or a Boxster wagon would both end up being exactly what you see here. Porsche has been expanding their product line for quite a few years now, for reasons of survival. Not many years ago, I was reading that Porsche was selling as many Cayennes as 911s and Boxsters combined. Without the Cayenne, which I am NO fan of, there would most likely be no Porsche today. Porsche DO make outstanding sports cars, thanks to those "other things" they build that pay the mortgage. Happy Motoring!

  • This Cayman "Shooting Brake" is utterly fantastic! Oh, I've fallen in love....either for this or the 356 Taj Ma Garaj "Sedan Delivery". Both are wonderful examples of a common theme, differentiated by half a century! So, my message to Porsche; HIRE Mr. Chin to your design dept and build that puppy!

  • I like the car. what I would like to see is more options for a car which can carry 4 golf bags. 4 golfers. great power., and handling. get 30-33 mpg,and give the Porsche experience to many more people.

  • As a long suffering American Fan of quality German Hatchbacks, I'd go for another, such as this one. I'm presently in a Macan, but IMO, that truck needs to be dropped about 3" in height and 500lbs worth of lightness is needed too...
