The 911 R was pretty much sold out before the general Porsche public even knew it was official. The majority of the allocation going to those that either purchased a 918 or those who are otherwise part of Porsche’s VIP program. That’s why I’m always surprised when another 911 R video comes out. By now, we all know how great the 911 R is, we know we most likely can’t have one (they only made 991 of them and one just sold at auction for $538k) so why keep hyping it? Mostly because people love it and they watch the videos.
Case in point the latest from the original video “hoon”, Top Gear’s Chris Harris. In the video above Chris mirrors our sentiments in that it almost feels like the 911 R is “the most overhyped sports car in the past five years” as everyone “expects it to be mind-bendingly brilliant“. Problem is, as Chris explains in a way that only he can, IT IS BRILLIANT!
