This is What a 1500 HP Porsche 997 Looks and Sounds Like

Matt Farah, and the guys over at TheSmokingTire.com, had a chance recently to pilot what just might be the world’s fastest Porsche 997. This 997 was built by the team at Evolution Motorsport. Starting with a bone stock 997 Turbo they took the original 3.6 liter engine and modified it bring total displacement up to 4.0 liters. That’s right, a 4.0 liter twin turbo Porsche that produces nearly 1500 HP.

Besides the larger displacement, this once stock 2007 997 Turbo received a whole host of additional upgrades to handle the 1485 horsepower and 1320 lb/ft torque it now produces. Things like suspension upgrades, transmission mods and bigger brakes are just the start. By the time EVOMS was all done, they have a Porsche that’s capable of passing almost anything it encounters and one that hit 234.6 MPH in the Texas mile back in 2011. Check out the video below of Matt Farah getting a chance to see just what it’s capable of last month at the Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack event. Watch carefully and see how the passenger window starts to come unhinged as the Porsche tops 175 mph. Insane power.

  • As a licensed pilot I can tell you that the driver should have applied maybe a little less right rudder on takeoff...
    He did takeoff, didn't he?

  • No window came unhinged at speeds in excess of 200 mph in my modified 2008 Porsche 997. Also, did the Evolution Motorsport 997 have 1,500 hp or 1,485 hp? Both values are mentioned in the text.

    • Hey, Bill,

Would love to see some pics or vids of your Porsche. Can you post some for us on our Facebook page? Total HP on the EVOMS 997 is 1485. Our text says "nearly 1500". Title is from the movie itself (which we didn't produce). :-)

    • Time I correct part of my previous comment re window coming lose >200 mph: I always ran my 2008 997 TT with both windows DOWN! Sorry about that. The confusion re the difference between 1,485 hp and 1,500 hp stands.
