When most enthusiast think of RUF, they think of Porsche. Some mistakenly think of RUF as a “tuner” or supplier of aftermarket parts for their Porsche. In fact, RUF is a car manufacturer in their own right. While it’s true that all RUF vehicles are derived from Porsches, they use unmarked Porsche chassis (otherwise known as a “body in white”), RUF engineers and manufactures their own original sports cars. One of their best known cars, perhaps, is the iconic RUF CTR (otherwise known as “Yellow Bird”).
For years, variations of the video below have circulated on YouTube. All of those that we’ve seen have been poor copies of part of the original. Well, last week RUF started populating their new YouTube channel and their most recent contribution is the full, original version of the Yellow Bird lapping the Nürburgring. It is, as one commenter calls it, “the greatest car video on the internet”.

I'd rather be bullfighting. My opponent wouldn't be trying so hard to kill me.
Even with the car fighting him that hard he still did the circuit in under 8 1/2 minutes. Incredible!
I only watched a few minutes of the video and that is all it took for it to confirm the development of mid engine cars. I can't imagine any fun in fighting a car constantly to stay straight and on the track.
But Ron, that is a lot of the fun and pleasure of driving the older Porsches. Now this Porsche makes just a wee bit too much power (is that blasphemous?) and makes it a touch more of a struggle than most. Some might say it's more enjoyment...
As the T-shirt says, "The 911 divided the world into those who could drive...and the rest"
Think what he could have done with some modern sticky tires.....sssssiish.
Isn't that the truth!
even B.A. Baracus doesn't move the steering wheel around that much!
