If You’re Going to Steal a Porsche at Least Learn to Drive a Stick!

While there are lots of rumors on the internet about Porsche moving more fully toward PDK, a Porsche with a third pedal got the better of a would be carjacker. According to a post in The Star Ledger, 18 year old Anthony Reynolds pleaded guilty today to the carjacking of a Porsche earlier this year.

Apparently, Ryan and friends were out in another stolen vehicle when they spotted the 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo and decided to add it to their illegal collection. As the passenger in a stolen BMW, Reynolds and his accomplice pulled up behind the Porsche and waited for the car between them to turn off onto another street. Once the other car was clear Reynolds approached the Porsche on foot brandishing a .38 caliber handgun. Ordered from the car at gunpoint, the Porsche’s driver ran from the car and caught the attention of a passing police cruiser. Explaining what had just transpired, the police moved in on the suspect.

All Porsche Drivers Should Know How to Drive a Stick

Unlike this Porsche thief Ryan must never have learned to drive a stick as he stalled the Porsche Turbo while trying to flee. With police fast approaching Reynolds had no choice but to leave the Porsche behind and flee on foot. Besides not being able to drive a stick Reynolds must not be too fleet of foot as he was quickly caught and arrested. His partner, however, either knew how to drive a stick or the BMW was equipped with an automatic as the BMW was found abandoned that same day.

Reynolds faces up to 15 years of prison time, fines of $250,000 and that horrible feeling of knowing he could have easily outrun the police had he not stalled the Porsche.
