Lot’s of people driving fast
From a total of 78 responses almost 60% of you said you have driven at 140 mph +. That’s a lot of people driving fast. In fact, it’s even faster than it seems. You see, quite a few people emailed me to say that I should have done the poll in 10 mph increments. If I had done this, the overwhelming majority would have been in the 150 mph + range. Of the 14 people that said they have driven at 160 mph + on the road, more than half would have been over 170 mph. The fact is, a lot of you are cruising at some serious high rates of speed.

Remember, if you are going to drive fast, read this post first. In addition, if you don’t already have one, you may want to consider getting some sort of radar detector. I personally use the Escort Passport 8500 and it has worked very well for me.

My late wife Carole and I collected our 993 at the factory in Zuffenhausen. We covered 3,600 miles in just 8 days...many many of them at an indicated 180mph/290kmh. Interestingly our speeds on A8 & 5 were greater than any I touched on the Nordschlief's longest straight section..only saw 260kmh there...or on Saltzburgring, Spa-Fanchorchamps or Hochenheimring's fastest sections. Actually that 290 was even faster than any speed I ever saw in my 911 racecars!
