Woman Buys Porsche. Totals It As She Drives Off Lot.

According to a story in the Daily Mirror, a woman in Shenyang, China had just taken delivery of her new Porsche Boxster when she totaled it as she pulled out of the dealer’s lot.

Porsche salesman Qiang Chiu said: “We were still waving her goodbye when she shot forward and there was a tremendous bang.”

Apparently, the new Porsche driver mixed up the pedals and hit the gas when she should have hit the brakes. Unfortunately, she rear-ended at least two other cars (one of which was a Mercedes) and damaged two others. All told, the damage is estimated to be at least twice the value of her Boxster. To add insult to injury, it looks like the police will be holding her liable as well.

Police spokesman Ho Hsia said: “All the other cars were stationary so she bears the responsibility for the accident and is liable for compensation.

Let’s be careful out there people!

  • Yeah, I know a Kia is Korean...and your point is???? Just stick her back in a crappy little car....American, Korean, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian, whatever!!!

  • these events happen all the time, she was probably very excited and nervous about drining her new Porsche and look at the traffic she encountered? I had a similar situation when I bought a new car. On the day of the arranged pick-up, the salesman was telling me all about it as we waited for an employee to bring it out from the storage area. He scraped the whole driver's side requiring a complete paint job. Of course I did not take it and had a hassle with the dealership for a month before we settled on another car.

  • "Mixed up the pedals"?? Sorry, that excuse went away after the Audi 5000 episodes. If you don't know which pedal is which, you shouldn't be driving...anything.

  • Actually this does not surprise me. I'm certainly not going to throw the young woman under the bus, but I will mention after visiting in China a few years ago, I witnessed few, if any, traffic signs, any enforced rules of the road. Basically, the traffic in the cities appeared to be based on some sort of Darwinian rule whereby only the fittest or the bravest survived going from point A to point B without an accident.

    • As an addendum, I should mention I'm a female whose daily drive is a 2014 Porsche Cayenne S w/automatic transmission, and I'd rather have my left pinkie finger amputated than drive my Cayenne S in any city in China.
