Malibu Kitchen isn’t as unlikely spot for a “Spike’s Car Radio” Podcast (billed as a downloadable Cars and Coffee) as you might think. If you follow Spike on Instagram you know he spends considerable time at Malibu’s most famous of coffee shops. For the last 10 to 15 years he’s been driving out to Malibu to meet other notable automotive enthusiasts (Paul Zuckerman, Jerry Seinfeld, etc.), talk cars and have breakfast. Now he jokes how he’s found a way to “monetize” his breakfast with the introduction of this new “Porchcast”.
“For years, I’ve been driving out to Malibu for a cars and comedy breakfast with friends,” said Feresten. “This is a way for me to share it with anyone who wants to listen in. I’m really enjoying myself, and podcasting is a way for me to monetize my weekly ‘cars and coffee’ breakfast. I’m getting paid to talk turbo’s and woof down eggs.”
Seinfeld to be Recurring Guest
Spike’s friend, and Porsche’s most famous informal brand ambassador, Jerry Seinfeld, appears alongside Spike for this first episode. During the intro Jerry quips that what he likes most about these gatherings is that they try to “restrict all conversations to cars”. Spike immediately puts this to the test by asking Jerry about his recent “hugging” incident during a red carpet event last week.
All that aside, we enjoyed Spike’s “Car Matchmaker” series, know he’s a huge Porsche fan, and this first episode featuring Jerry and Paul Zuckerman (Zuckerman is a Personal Injury attorney in LA who spends a good portion of his income buying every Porsche he can get his hands on) is a home run for any Porsche fan. If you haven’t done so already, set aside some time, download the episode to your phone (or push play below) and listen. We think you’ll enjoy it!
