Professional Hockey Player Scores Golfing Hat-trick and Wins Porsche

Professional athletes play at a level that most of us can’t even comprehend. However, that’s usually in the sport they’re paid to play in. Others, while few and far between, exude so much athleticism that they’re able to play at a professional level in two or more sports, I’m looking at you Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders. However, I can’t think of many pro hockey players that have, or could do so, until now.

Last week, Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser proved he might have the chops for a second career as a pro golfer. During the team’s annual Traverse City golf outing, Danny won a long drive contest winning a new driver for his efforts. Shortly after, on a 155 yard par 3 he won a new putter for being the closest to the hole. In fact, his ball was actually in-the-hole. A hole-in-one that completed his hat-trick and resulted in him being awarded a two-year lease on a new Porsche Boxster.

  • Good for Danny. He's not had any deep playoff runs yet with the Wings in the NHL so presumably has had quite a bit of time to work on his golf game ;-)
