Truth in 1/32: Mark Webber Provides A Slot Car Guide to Le Mans.

Mark Webber may be larger than life in many respects, the man’s motorsport career spans three decades, and he’s not yet forty years old. Red Bull shrank the legendary racing driver down to 1/32nd scale to help put the enormity of Le Mans in perspective. With the help of both Richard Attwood and a Carrera slot car representation of Atwood’s 1970 Le Mans winner, Webber walks us through the La Sarthe’s important sections.

The video was shot at a large representation of the La Sarthe circuit at Porsche’s headquarters in Silverstone. Unfortunately the track itself is a fair bit smaller than 1/32nd scale, but still hits all of the important points. From the Dunlop Bridge to the Mulsanne Hairpin and Arnage, all of the circuit’s features are present.

Webber’s teammates Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley assist in explaining what makes Le Mans so special while Attwood spends a bit of time in the famous Ferris Wheel situated just inside the Ford Chicane. Of course, if slot car racing is more your speed there is also a24 Hours of Le Mans slot car race (see below) which tests the 1/32nd scale cars for a non-scale 24 straight hours.
