Porsche Classic Shock Absorbers for 993 Models

Porsche’s support for their classic models has long been among the best in the industry. Following on the recent launch of their navigation system for classic models, Porsche has released updated OEM shock absorbers for the 993 cars. These new shocks feature updated valving for improved performance. The new dampers were built in conjunction with Bilstein to ensure top-quality performance and construction for this classic Porsche.

Waldi Hofffman from Porsche Vehicle Dynamics Development states that “Parts which have lasted the Nürburgring are praised by all drivers.” As such these dampers have been tested at both the legendary circuit and on the road to ensure they deliver the desired performance. Porsche intends for these shocks to be consistent with the character of the 993.

Interestingly the front struts are now constructed upside down, with the piston rod supported at the bottom of the assembly rather than at the top. This arrangement is much like the pre-1989 911. This design is used to decrease the torsional effect of lateral forces, and helps to reduce unsprung weight. These updated parts carry correct 993-reference numbers, for easy searching in the Porsche parts catalog. More details on the Porsche Classic website
