The Driver’s Role In The 24 Hours of Le Mans

For the past 5 weeks we’ve brought you information regarding the rule changes for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Quite a bit has changed for Porsche’s return in 2014 and that means cars, strategy and even how the drivers pilot their cars need to change too. In this 6th video we explore how the driver’s actions (especially when it comes to braking and managing traffic) need to adjust in order to accommodate the new fuel reduction requirements in the LMP1 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For instance, we’ll hear why hitting the brakes is much more effective than lifting off the gas and how that braking can actually increase power further into the lap.
