Earlier this year Porsche “unveiled” their replacement for the 911 RSR. However, conspiracy theorists quickly jumped on the reveal noting that Porsche failed to provide any technical details, profile pictures or the all important shots of the rear-end. Speculation was rampant and ran the gamut from the new RSR would be turbo-charged to the idea that it would be mid-engined (a fact that many have noted would require a waiver from the FIA due to how different it would be from the road-going version).
Earlier today Porsche was at Sebring testing and the folks over at “Fans of the 12 Hours” captured the video above. It’s definitely Porsche’s new RSR. Is it turbo-charged or mid-engined? We’ll know for sure when we see it unveiled next month in LA.

I vote for "turbocharged"...;-)
I recon you have it right Chuck, looking at the film the RSR seems quicker out of the corners and shifting up in the gears earlier suggesting more torque.
Turbos are kings of high altitude, atmospheric are kings of sea level.Porsche should make both engine configurations since purists seem to be somehow traditional and skeptical to radical changes.
The tail end is bulky enough that I suspect it's still rear engined. Look at a Cayman or Boxster rear end...much slimmer.
It looks like it has a diffuser on the back which won't fit on a rear engine car, only front engine and mid-engine cars can have them. Also the sound of the engine to me, doesn't sound like our beloved flat 6 breathing air unassisted. My guess is turbo and mid-engined.
Good point about the diffuser - I missed that.
It's the 911 GT1 reborn!
I suppose with the long wheelbase of the 991, it was inevitable.
But the car is now crossing the boundary between sports car and sports prototype.
I still like 911's - nothing quite like them.
If its a 911 is a rear engine,AWD,GT3 are atmospheric while GT2 are turbo, could't really tell what engine type this car has and what transmission,if PDK or manual?
My ears tell me PDK or Sequential...
