We’re big fans of the Cayman GT4, and we’re even bigger fans of the GT4 Clubsport racing version. This year in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series “Grand Sport” class, the GT4s are cleaning up, taking trophies left and right. These cars are wickedly fast, and have the looks to match. Ride along with Marc Miller for a lap of Laguna Seca. Favorite car, favorite track, and a great driver!
In the video, you’ll notice a few differences between the street-going Cayman GT4 and the Clubsport racer. First, and most importantly, you’ll see Marc is shifting with paddles on the steering wheel. That’s because the Clubsport uses a PDK dual-clutch transaxle instead of the 6-speed manual found in the street car. Secondly, you’ll notice a cacophonous roar from the engine compartment (almost directly below the camera in this video), and a roaring squeal of iron rotors and pads being tortured as the car rockets down into the corners.
Everything about this video is exciting. The sound is probably my favorite part, but watching Mr. Miller saw at the wheel through some of the trickiest corners in motor racing takes a close second. It’s clear, especially through Turn 9 (Rainey Curve), that Miller is right on the knife edge of grip. It’s a short and entertaining video. Be sure to crank up the volume and sit back for a few minutes of riotous Porsche entertainment.

The videos at track need to include the time fir the lap. Many of us have ridden or driven those tracks at speed and the numbers tell the story. I think the guy driving at Laguna is late on the throttle. Anyone feel the same?
