If you’re looking for a piece of Porsche heritage in the Taycan, you’re about to get it because the 2022 sedan and Cross Turismo wagon is now available with exterior colors from the 964-generation 911. You’ll get access to these hues via Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and the new Paint-to-Sample and Paint-to-Sample Plus programs. Both give prospective owners access to an endless number of ways to customize your Taycan on top of the 17 existing exterior colors. Paint-to-Sample will allow you to choose 65 additional colors including Rubystar, Viola Metallic, Acid Green, Riviera Blue, and Moonlight Blue Metallic for your 2022 Porsche Taycan. The Paint-to-Sample Plus program, on the other hand, gives the potential owner endless customization options for their Taycan. Porsche will even allow them to match the car with their favorite accessory.

Beyond the new exterior colors, the 2022 Porsche Taycan also gets tech updates to make it even easier to live with. Android Auto is now standard on all cars with the latest version of the PCM interface. Remote Park Assist has also been added, allowing you to park the Taycan using the Porsche Connect app on your smartphone. This feature allows the car to parallel or perpendicularly park in spaces that it fits in. Using the parking sensors and cameras, it can measure whether the car can squeeze into the spot or not. The owner will then be able to control the car by pressing and holding buttons on the app. All steering inputs will be made solely by the vehicle while the owner moves it forward or back via the app. If you let go of the button, however, the vehicle with stop the parking process immediately.

Porsche has also added the Turbo Charging Planner on the 2022 Taycan. This allows the battery to get heated up to a higher temperature so that it can accept higher rates sooner while DC charging. As a result, you’ll spend less time plugged in thanks to the quicker charging times. Porsche says this shouldn’t result in higher range estimates from the EPA and WLTP for the 2022 model year. Excess heat produced by the electrical components will also be used to improve the regulation of battery temperatures.

Currently, the standard and 4S models have the highest EPA range ratings at 225 and 227 miles respectively when equipped with the optional 93.4-kWh battery pack. The Taycan Turbo and Turbo S are rated at 212 and 201 miles respectively. However, the tradeoff for the shorter range is that the two Turbo models offer incredible performance including a sub-3.0-second 0 to 60 mph time. Every Taycan Turbo, Turbo S, and Cross Turismo model gets the 93.4-kWh battery as standard equipment. A smaller 79.2-kWh pack is available in Taycan and Taycan 4S sedan. Both the sedan and Cross Turismo wagon flavors of the 2022 Taycan go on sale before the end of the year.

The 2022 Porsche Taycan marks the third year of production for the brand’s first dedicated battery-electric model. Next year, it will be followed by the Macan EV, which is the second generation of Porsche’s popular compact crossover. That car will also be the first Porsche on the Volkswagen Group’s new PPE platform, which has been built specifically for battery-electric vehicles.
