Do you want a Porsche Cayenne but the lack of performance is holding you back from pulling the trigger? Well dear reader, you’ll have to wait no longer because Porsche has introduced the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT to sit atop the tree of Cayenne performance.
The Cayenne Turbo GT has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 631 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 90 hp and 59 more lb-ft than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe. All of that performance means your family crossover can hit 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and will run the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds. Porsche tends to be a bit conservative with its stated performance numbers, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if people hit less than 3 seconds in their Cayenne. It has a top speed of 186 miles per hour.
The Cayenne Turbo GT also completed a lap of the famed Nürburgring in a blistering 7 minutes and 38.9 seconds. That means Porsche owns the current SUV lap record on the famous 12.9-mile circuit in Germany. Of course, do you even care about that?
Cayenne Turbo GT only comes in coupe configuration, and sits 17 mm lower than the Turbo Coupe. It also features a retuned air suspension that is 15% stiffer. PASM is retuned for the Turbo GT, along with rear axle steering and Power Steering Plus.
The 22-inch P Zero Corsa tires are brought to a stop by standard carbon ceramic brakes painted in Porsche’s signature yellow. They are 440 mm in the front and 410 mm in the rear.
A water-cooled transfer case helps keep the thermal capacity of the drivetrain contained under heavy use, and the Cayenne Turbo GT is lightened by replacing things like the exhaust with a titanium unit without a center muffler. That exhaust change alone sheds 40 pounds.
Inside, the Cayenne Turbo GT is a nice place to sit, as one would imagine. Eight-way sports seats are standard, and are GT-specific. The centers are in Alcantara, God’s fabric, with contrasting stitching of “Turbo-GT” on the headrests. The steering wheel has a yellow stripe at the 12-o’clock position. This will also be the first Cayenne to feature Porsche’s newest infotainment system, with Apple Car Play, Apple Music, and Apple Podcasts support. For those who use Android, Android Auto is also supported by the system.
If you want one of these fast Cayennes, especially in the new Arctic Grey color, hit up your dealership. You can order now with an anticipated start of delivery in early 2022. With shipping and handling, the Cayenne Turbo GT starts at $182,150.

The perfect answer for those who would be left with Way-Too-Much left over money after the purchase of a "regular" Cayenne Turbo Coupe. Overall very pleased to see this as every SUV sold helps the 911 stay alive.
